Changes to the Election Process for Officers and Executive Members

The election process will change this year, in line with the constitution changes agreed at last years AGM.  Terms for officers will now be for three years, however because we are changing from annual elections to three yearly, for the next three years the elections will be as follows:

2024 – one third of the elected members will retire or stand for re-election

2025 – one third of those elected in 2023 who did not retire or stand again in 2024 will retire or stand for re-election

2026 – the remaining one third of those elected in 2023 who did not retire or stand again in 2024 or 2025 will retire or stand for re-election

2027 onwards – normal three yearly cycle of elections

The decision on who will retire in each of the following years will occur by blind ballot at the first meeting of the Executive after the AGM, except for the Office Holders.  For Office Holders, their retirements will be as follows:

  • The Secretary will retire in 2024
  • The Treasurer will retire in 2025
  • The Chair will retire in 2026

Each Office Holder may stand for re-election at the time of their retirement.
