Why register?

The purpose of registration is to collect in the names and contact details of all those who affiliate to Ngāti Hikairo. The Ngāti Hikairo iwi register may be  used for a number of purposes, including:

• keeping in touch with the membership of Ngāti Hikairo and keeping them informed of important iwi information
• identifying registered people eligibile to vote on Ngāti Hikairo issues
• identifying registered people who are entitled to benefit from distribution, scholarship, and other assistance

Who can register?

Eligible members must descend from a Ngāti Hikairo tupuna – through blood or legal adoption – and whakapapa to a Ngāti Hikairo hapū or marae. To complete the registration you will either be:
•an eligible adult member
•or an adult registering eligible children under the age of 18 years.

All applications will be processed by the Rūnanga, keeping in mind your privacy. We will notify you about the progress of your registration or if we require further details.

Privacy & Confidentiality

The information gathered for your registration will only be used by the Rūnanga for Rūnanga purposes. The information will not be sold or made available to any external agency. Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Hikairo is committed not just to observing the principles of the Privacy Act 1993 but also to protecting the mana of individuals, hapū and iwi.
